  1. Adding on to PKTheDaddu's excellent advice, I want to point out that a Fulbright is not a good option for you if you want to work abroad, or if you want to stay in the USA. Monetarily speaking, even if you can't afford a Master's abroad but you plan to get a degree in something that is financially lucrative, you should consider loans etc to go abroad. Such as an MBA degree. Get a loan and do an MBA, but don't go on a fulbright if you want to stay there. If you are pursuing a dream that won't have high returns monetarily, then fulbright makes sense. Coz returns in USA > returns in Pakistan for degrees like the MBA.
  2. What programs are most common in Fulbright? Development? Economics? What about journalism? Does anyone have historical figures regarding degrees awarded to previous fulbrighters?
  3. I have done my undergraduate in economics. I am now working for an NGO and have developed an interest in environment and climate change. Can you recommend top programs to get a Master's in? Also, do you think a Master's is sufficient or should I opt for a phd? I don't have a quantitative background, my math needs work. Additionally, should I go for a Public Policy program or a specialized environment/climate change program? Is it better to be specialized or general? I understand different people will have different opinions- I want to hear all of it. Thanks.
  4. Hey. In the introductions I have noticed that a few of the folks on this forum have had corporate jobs, and still managed to get into a Public Policy Masters program. I always thought Public Policy was a program for development professionals, people with backgrounds in NGOs etc. Is this not true? Can someone shed light on what background (work, degrees etc) got you admission in a Masters in Public Policy.

Thanks for the heads up. I am an international student looking to apply for a Public Policy degree. Would it be possible for you to share what kind of scholarships I am looking at? Schools don't usually advertise scholarships and because international students can't afford the tuition, we don't apply to schools we can't afford. It would be great to get an idea of what kind of opportunities are out there.
