Recommended Posts

GradTrunk is a community platform, aimed at helping prospective international students familiarize themselves with challenges & nuances of studying in the US. This is the place to ask questions & share experiences pertaining to US universities, admission applications, degree programs, city specific guides, and other requests you may have. We have a pool of experienced students and alumni who will try to share their experience for you to make informed decisions

While using GradTrunk.com, we urge you to be respectful of fellow members, administrators and Moderators and adhere to the following community rules and guidelines, to avoid any inconveniences for yourself and the community. Please note that all rules and regulations mentioned in this thread are established by GradTrunk administrators and moderators, who at their discretion, can delete posts without prior warning that are found to be in violation. Failure to comply with these rules can result in a temporary ban to permanent suspension, as deemed necessary.

We hope you find the community useful and benefit from the knowledge out there.

Forum Rules

  • To keep things simple and organized, all forum posts must be written in English. Any thread topics or replies written in a language other than English may be removed without notice. Repeated violations may lead to a warning
  • Posts should be made in the relevant forum. Members are requested to read the forum descriptions before posting. Consistently posting to the wrong forum may be given a warning.
  • Members should post in a way that is respectful of other users. Writing hostile/ insulting messages aimed at other users for their views, comments, status as a user on the site, or any other reason. You can disagree with someone's views and still be polite about it. Flaming or abusing users in any way will not be tolerated.
  • Posting controversial/off-topic messages with the intent of luring other users to reply known as trolling is not permitted under any circumstances.
  • Spamming is strictly prohibited. No advertisements, or referral links to other services. Spamming also includes but is not limited to posting short replies (usually fewer than 7 words) which do not contribute to a forum thread in a positive manner. Some forum threads on GradTrunk may allow short messages, but otherwise short messages are highly discouraged. Do not post for the sake of forum post count. Your posts will be removed if we see you posting non-contributing or annoying messages.
  •  Members should use descriptive, easily understandable subject when posting a new topic. Examples of bad subjects include; "Help me!", "I'm stuck!", “Urgent!” etc. Examples of good subjects include; "Help choosing a suitable internet service provider", "What are good places to eat around UPENN", etc
  • No discussions of, hacking, illegal material, software piracy or linking to these activities will be tolerated.
  • Do not post material that is hateful or disrespectful towards race, religion, sex, or any other offensive nature.
  •  Do not post profane or offensive content/links. GradTrunk prohibits Not Safe for Work Content. (NSFW)
  • Please do not "hijack" a forum thread by changing the subject. If you want to change the subject, please start a new message thread.
  • Do not complain about getting banned, and do not make another account to circumvent a ban. Do not complain about other users being banned, in the forums or on profile pages of other users.
  • Do not complain if a moderator removes a message you posted. We trust our moderators, and if they've removed a message, they had a good reason.
  • Turn off your caps lock, do not use excessive ALL CAPS in your posts.
  • Refrain from copying or plagiarizing comments.
  • Do not post messages containing images of typed text, especially in an alternate color. This confuses other members who may think you have some special authority, which is against our Terms and Conditions. It also defeats our search engine, which cannot read your message text.

Violations

  • GradTrunk adheres to a three strike policy. Members will be warned a maximum of three times for any and all offences in a two month period. If the need arises for a fourth warning a temporary ban will be put in place of between 1 to 5 days.
  • Arguing with administrators or moderators after having received a warning will lead to an immediate additional warning. Should this exceed three strikes a temporary ban will be issued.
  • Members who feel they have been unfairly warned are welcome to contact the relevant forum moderator. If they feel you were treated badly they will remove a warning.
  • Any attempt to circumvent a temporary ban or other moderator action will lead to a permanent ban of your account(s). Circumvention includes re-registering or using an already registered account under a non-banned username. Other examples include changing IP addresses, using a new email account or other action that can be taken to evade moderator action to hide your identity as the owner of the sanctioned account.
  • An exception to the three strike rule applies when users contact team members personally (via any method) and post insulting, indecent or vulgar material. Such users may be subject to an immediate permanent ban.
  • Permanent bans are issued as a last resort for those in constant/deliberate violations of aforementioned rules.
